Hedgehog Heroes

Hedgehog Heroes

As our nights get darker and our evenings get colder spare a little thought for our friend the hedgehog as he settles down for his long winter nap. Once again this year Girlguiding Ulster have partnered up with the RSPB and are excited to bring you our Hedgehog Heroes event in Spring 2016.

After Mr. Hedgehog has snoozed through his winter blues we want help from our Rainbows in looking out for and looking after our prickly pals. The RSPB has been supporting a young volunteer Orlagh McLaughlin developing an exciting new range of storytelling programmes based around stunning wildlife books she has written and illustrated herself. Orlagh launched her programme with Rainbows last May at Lorne and one of her illustrations will be used for our special hedgehog badge; available to our girls for coming along and working super hard to learn all about these important critters.

At the May event we will also be launching our RSPB resource packs for both the Rainbow Hedgehog Heroes and the Brownie Give Nature a Home campaigns. The RSPB will also be joining us for our Brownie Bonanza in March. We can’t wait! Let’s hope all the excitement of what’s to come doesn’t keep Mr. Hedgehog awake for too long!
