Lead Volunteer for Action for Change!
Girlguiding Ulster are searching for a Lead Volunteer to join the Action for Change programme.
This programme is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to take action on the issues you really care about. We’re creating the UK’s largest girl-led advocacy network, through a series of exciting inspiration weekends and ongoing support from our amazing Action for Change Network Coordinators. Each Country and Region is taking part – and hundreds of girls are already on board!
The Action for Change Lead Volunteer must be 18 or older and will work with the Advocacy staff team for nine months in an advisory role to help develop and support the delivery of the chosen project in Girlguiding Ulster. They will act as the main point of contact for the Youth Advocacy Network Officer and will coordinate the Action for Change working group for Girlguiding Ulster.
By joining Action for Change, you’ll be part of an incredible journey running your very own social action project – gathering the skills, knowledge and confidence you need along the way to make a change.
Don’t worry if you are unsure of what issue to tackle, your role will begin with an inspirational residential weekend which will inspire and providing you the skills to take on action. You will meet other girls taking in the role and share your ideas and knowledge and of course making friends along the way. Workshops are included on everything from video production to public speaking and engaging decision-makers. You’ll hear talks from motivational speakers and they’ll be some fun down-time activities too.
After the weekend, you are not alone. You will get continuous support from your local network and you’ll join your local network as well as a skilled Network Coordinator to develop your plan. Online, you’ll stay in touch with the friends you make, sharing ideas and working together on projects.
Girlguiding will send you a new resource each month to help your project grow –plus news and advice on making Action for Change stand out on your CV. Once you’ve completed your year, you’ll get an exclusive badge to show how much you’ve achieved!
