International Community Experience (ICE) 2020

Are your guides, between the ages of 11 and 13, looking for a new and exciting challenge? If so ICE may be for them. ICE stands for International Community Experience and is a three-stage project open to Guides between the ages of 11 and 13. Girls must be aged at least 11 and under 14 on 1st April 2020 to take part in this event. The purpose of the 2 ICE weekends is to give girls a taste of community action, increase their global awareness and prepare them for international experiences. It offers the opportunity for personal development through community action linked with international experiences. The project brings girls together from all over Ulster to have fun, while doing something for others.

Who Can Take Part? Guides can come along as a group or individuals, everyone is guaranteed to make lots of new friends. They do not need any previous experience but do need to come prepared to do some community work alongside the fun activities. There is a limited number of 35 places, and you will be committing to attend all 3 stages. (see dates below) Leaders are not required to accompany their Guides. A mixture of community action and exploration of international Girlguiding, alongside new friendships, new experiences, fun learning and laughter. ICE is the perfect opportunity for any Guide who wants to challenge herself and take the next step on her guiding journey.

Stage 1 - Lorne Estate - Friday 31st January - Sunday 2nd February 2020

An indoor residential weekend to introduce community action and raise international awareness. Girls will take part in local small-scale community projects and explore international cultures through crafts, music and group activities. Cost: £75

Stage 2 - Lorne Estate - Friday 27th - Sunday 29th March 2020

An indoor briefing weekend for girls to strengthen friendships and to plan stage 3.

Stage 3 - Location, date & cost to be confirmed.

This final part of the project is only for girls who have completed stages 1 and 2. This will be a trip planned and arranged by the girls and could be in Ireland or UK.

Please note spaces on the weekend are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please note that a non-refundable deposit of £20 will be required to secure each participant place. Final balances will need to be paid in full by the 20th December 2019
